Kawaihae, Hawaii |

I was fishing for akule down at Kawaihae, Harbor when I got a bite. When I brought the fish in to shore, my first thought was "this is one fatty!" He was so short and round, the length was 7-inches and the girth was 6 and 7/8 inches. I used an Acculite rod with a Quantum 40 reel spooled with 10-lb test, and caught it with a menpachi fly lure.
So, I took it to Arakaki Store in my home town of Kohala, and Barry Arakaki weighed it and gave me its official weight. I was excited when I realized that I had another State Record, and so I sent in all my info. Mahalo!
