Michael Matsunaga was fishing for bottom fishing in 420 feet of water outside Haleiwa when he caught several fish that he thought were dobe papio (whitemouth jack or Uraspis helvola). The biggest of the bunch was this 3.87-pounder that ate a squid bait. The fish was later identified as a whitefin trevally or Carangoides equula. A new state record!
