At around 10:30 p.m. we got a little break in the weather giving us just enough time to set up and get the lines out. Around 30 minutes later, while relaxed and sitting down eating a sandwich, Boooom! The loud clang of the bell and the scream from the reel, HANAPAA!
From thinking I wasn't going to fish that night, to catching this 113.3-lb monster as my first ulua of the year, really goes to show never giving up pays off. The memories this fish created for my family, especially my wife Christine and our children Elli and Ezra, my friends, and me will last forever.
Thank you to my fishing partner Ry for always steadily pushing us to get better and better at what we do. And also for convincing me to fish that night, even when I thought of just giving up.
