Al said that this fish was unusual in that it swam toward shore almost immediately after being hooked. His partner, Stanley Kohashi, and he spent the better part of 30 minutes trying to get the fish out of an underwater cave that was actually behind their casting spot. Al also weighed 97- and 99-lb ulua that he'd caught at Milolii lighthouse that probably surpassed the magical 100-lb figure. Those fish were too big to fish in his cooler so they were out of the water for at least 15 ours before being weighed.
