Pelagics Weight Angler Location Date Monchong (Sickle Pomfret) 1.81 lbs Peter Same Anini Beach, Kauai 00/00/2023 We went out for a beach day at Anini and to my surprise what thought to be a nenue at first, was this monchong. After getting to my truck, I took the fish out of my bag and was super confused and amazed at how this fish looked. What type of fish was it? After doing some research and asking around, to my amazement I had caught one of two varieties of "monchong", which is a super deep water fish. I've been fishing for about 20 years and never seen or heard of that kind of fish. Even after spearfishing for about 14 years, I never came across one. Can't wait to cook this up and see how it tastes.
