Midwater Fish Weight Angler Location Date Hawaiian Pigfish 7.65 lbs. Mark Ignacio Hawaii Kai, Oahu 01/24/23 Caught this fish at the Hawaii Kai pinnacle on January 24, 2023, using squid for bait. Depth was 600 feet, using my Shimano 9000 Beastmaster electric reel with 80-lb line. I got real lucky to catch such a big one. The previous month I caught one that was 6.1- lbs, to barely beat the old 2014 record of exactly 6-lbs. At 7.65-lbs I may have a chance to stay on the State Records list.
