Midwater Fish Weight Angler Location Date 'Opelu (D. muroadsi) 5 lbs Glenn M. Kuwabara Ka'ena Point, O'ahu 12/30/2020 On new years eve I went on a night fishing trip to Kaena Point. I used ika and a kaka style bottom fishing rig with a 60lb test leader. I hooked up to a fish at midnight in about 65 fathoms and thought it was a Rainbow Runner. We then noticed it was a massive opelu! We had a great night and our boat totaled out to 11 Lehe, 6 Opakapaka, 10 Heller's Barracuda, 9 kahala, 2 taape. These fish fed my whole family as well as my friends.
